Bibimbap and Soju Carafes in Davis

If you’d like to hear more about snow, talk to... anyone.

If you’d like to hear more about Korean food, talk to Meju, a cozy new outpost of down-home Korean cooking with twists aplenty, soft-open now (but closed today) and officially opening February 3 in Davis Square. (This would be your slideshow and sample menu.)

This place used to be a McDonald’s. No, really. A f**king McDonald’s. But not a single trace of the clown’s empire remains. Instead, you’ll find a dining room filled with simple wooden tables, muted colors and a big exposed brick wall in the back.

And it’s from the same mother-son team behind Allston’s Bibim. They’ve imported some of their flagship numbers like that beef bibimbap that’ll show up in front of your date in a sizzling stone pot. But here, they’re also dabbling in less traditional small plates like spicy-pork steamed buns in gochujang aioli.

It looks like you want to ask a question.

“What’s that granite bar with old-school swivel chairs doing there?”

Right. That’s where you’ll drink Hitachinos and carafes full of watermelon juice and soju starting Thursday.

“Why Thursday?”

Never question the ways of the Hitachino.
