Pho Get About It

Look. Vietnamese Noodles on Newbury.

Holy sh*t. It’s finally warm outside. And we know just what you’re thinking about:

Slurping noodles out of a piping-hot beef broth.

Okay, so you were probably thinking about iced coffee.

Until now.

Put on your slurping caps for Beantown Pho & Grill, a new restaurant full of Vietnamese noodle soup and grilled meat on sticks and other things that can only make your day better, open now on Newbury Street.

It looks like the inside of some well-worn Cape cottage you and your friends would rent for a week. All whitewashed brick and faded-green wood planks. And bare lightbulbs inside lots of hung-up mason jars. Which doesn’t really fit with our analogy, but that’s okay.

You’ll come here wanting pho. Which is convenient. Because there’s 10 bowls of the stuff, from the classic spicy beef broth to a shrimp-having sweet-and-sour number. And you’ll slurp as loud as you want, because this is America. That and it’s customary.

And when the day is right for the whole “Let’s eat outside” thing, you’ll do so at a tiny street-side patio with skewers of lemongrass chicken and Thai iced tea in mason jars.

Not a bad mason jar in the house.
