Breakfast for Dinner and a Few Velvet Elvi

You’ve never been one to take yourself too seriously.

Playful, but never overbearing. Polished, but not all Gordon Gekko about it. And while you can certainly appreciate the late works of, say, Jackson Pollock, there’s always room in your gallery for a good Velvet Elvis or two.

Good news: we may have stumbled upon a restaurant after your own heart...

And it’s called Local Three, a whimsical fusion of communal tables, Lebowski-themed cocktails and duck confit quesadillas, opening next Wednesday in Buckhead.

This is the brainchild of the guys behind Muss & Turner’s, so you can expect a certain level of tongue-in-cheek irreverence (yes, that’s a painting of Nature Boy Ric Flair on the wall) backed by more than enough chops to pull it off.

You’ll start by winding through a random hallway in a Buckhead office building, only to emerge upon a giant, dimly lit dining room flecked with thick wooden tables and floor-to-ceiling windows. Keep straight and you’ll find the bar, where you’ll airily post up in the communal section for a Caucasian and a little Peekytoe Crab Mac & Cheese.

And sure, you could hit a table after that for some Roasted Pumpkin Risotto followed by the always-tempting Breakfast for Dinner (pork belly, parmesan scrambled eggs, grits). But the real reason you came... a table for four. Sitting squarely in the center of the kitchen.

Which is where you’ll take a seat, alert the chef to your mood and sit back as the impromptu dishes fly at you from every direction.

And maybe a little hot duck fat if you’re not careful.
