A Deep Ellum Bar with Good Things to Eat

Your Memorial Day weekend begins in 3... 2... 1...

Spend some quality time at On Premise, a new Deep Ellum bar from the guys behind the Mitchell and Truth & Alibi. It’s got a steampunk vibe and an international menu, and it’s soft-open now with a grand-opening party Tuesday night. (Take a look inside.)

Walk through those machine-cog front doors, and you’ll find brick walls, high-backed Victorian furniture and antique lights. Throw in the seafoam-green banquettes and bar stools, and you’ve got plenty to look at while you hoist a classic cocktail or one of their signature drinks and stay out just a little too late.

But if you’re hungry—hell, even if you’re not—you’ll want to consult that menu. It comes from Brian Zenner (Oak, Belly & Trumpet), and it’s got things like Jamaican jerk sausage, charcoal-grilled skewers of lamb souvlaki and a wok-fried whole fish. So it’s not your typical bar food. And you’re fine with that.

Then, if it ever stops raining, be sure to venture out back. Because that’s where they’re keeping a big patio with lots more seating and another bar.

Gratis fresh air, too.
