The Unlikely Pairing of Bikes and Coffee

Sitting wherever you are right now, you may not be ready to up and bike 100 miles.

But maybe you just don’t have the right bike. Or nine shots of espresso.

Coincidentally, here’s a place where you can get both.

It’s The Bike Rack + Filter Coffeehouse, a combination of the two local outlets under one roof, opening Saturday in Brookland. (Slideshow here, menu here.)

If you’ve been to one of the other Filter locations, you know the deal: a great little neighborhood spot that takes its flat whites, long blacks and pour-overs plenty seriously. Only here it’s in an airy industrial space where you’ll want to claim a couple orange stools and unfurl a newspaper near the huge floor-to-ceiling windows.

Then you may say something like “They have bikes here. So let’s go look at bikes.” You’ll go down a couple steps to the bi-level bike shop. Maybe you’ll purchase a bike.

Or, if you’re happy with your current ride, you can get a full tune-up from their service department, or schedule a professional bike-fitting session at their fit studio.

Plus, collect 1,000 punches on your coffee card and get a free bike.

Okay, we made that up.
