A Raucous Secret Above Black Bull Tapas

Gut-check time.

We’re going to toss out some concepts to gauge your reaction. It’s best to be completely honest with your feelings.

—Murals of vintage French erotic cartoons.
—Velveteen booths.
—Teacups filled with gin served by people in little black dresses.
—Live jazz. Vintage soul. Callous disregard for EDM.
—Ibérico ham.

Now, if any of the above make you feel all funny inside, please know that Bordel, a sexy upstairs lounge with all of those things, opens tonight in Wicker Park. (See the slideshow here.)

Located above Black Bull Tapas, it’s accented in black lacquer and white tablecloths, creating a vibe that registers somewhere between a 1960s Parisian jazz den and a 1910 Chicago house of ill repute.

You’ll bring people who like to eat charcuterie and share bowls of rum punch. Or just one special person who can’t resist a Pink Lady, one of the 40-plus cocktails here.

Tonight is the speakeasy party, hosted by some of the Hey Champ guys and featuring members of Lupe Fiasco’s band. You’ll need a password for that (emailing these guys should help). Otherwise, expect various live lineups like ’60s bossa nova bands. Maybe a little soul. Maybe a little burlesque. Maybe a little DJ.

Well, the DJ might be normal size.
