Long Tall Thally

Chalkboards, Draft Ciders and Coffee Steak

For several weeks now, you’ve been all about patios here, roof decks there, maybe a poolside cabana on occasion.

And it’s... been great, actually.

But maybe it’s time to get back to a nice, cozy neighborhood date spot.

Here’s one, just in time for fall. It’s called Thally, it’s from the former chef at Cork and New Heights, and it’s supposed to open this Tuesday.

Yeah, they’ve got the industrial, brick-and-concrete thing going on here. But also everywhere you look: green murals with images of the stables and carriage houses that once dotted the alleys nearby, plus antique pipe fittings and blackboards on runners that announce the day’s bottled ciders, 10 drafts and cocktails made with stuff like housemade grapefruit cello. Translation: you’ll like it in here.

If it’s a casual meetup, just order those drinks right from the granite-and-leather bar and keep things simple with small plates like carnitas sope or bacon and avocado on toast.

But if you’re well along on the whole dating thing, ask for the cozy table in the front window. There, you’ll want to spend some time getting to know grilled branzino, pork T-bones and Delmonico steak with coffee dust.

Decaf steak not available.
