Corn Toss, Scrabble and Hot Dogs in Penn Quarter

None 6 Photos Penn Social
Like Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, your competitive instincts are legendary. Fortunately, now there’s a bar that understands. It’s called Penn Social and it officially opens tomorrow night in the space formerly known as Riot Act to ensure that you can compete in just about any situation. Like these...

After-Work Drinking. Reclaimed high school science tables and low couches around an old factory cart: this is where you’ll sit upstairs for Monday-evening karaoke, Tuesday trivia and—soon enough—open-mic music and comedy.

Barely Structured Competition. In the newly transformed downstairs, you’ll find enormous murals, 30 taps, six projection screens for sports and as many games as you care to dominate—pool, darts, Pop-a-Shot. We hear cruise-ship-style shuffleboard is in the works.

Highly Structured Competition. United Social Sports has set up its headquarters here, too, so you can soon get your fill of league play in bocce, corn toss and skee-ball.

A Midafternoon Tryst. Let’s say you’re going to take one of your patented “off-site meetings” with a special someone. Well, soon it’ll be open at noon for you to catch up over banh mi and a house hot dog with baked beans and pulled pork. And if it involves a spirited round of Scrabble—oh, hell, Battleship—from the game case, all the better.

It always takes a while to find that sub.
