You’re downstairs at Roka Akor. Throughout the evening, you’re served five to seven drinks that represent elements in Japanese philosophy. One of them is called Fire and is a tea-smoked Sazerac. You’re told that you’re experiencing an ever-rotating “cocktail omakase.” You go with it. Life remains strange and beautiful.

It’s a Ramen and Sake and Happiness Summit

There’s a festival dedicated to all things Japanese food and culture this weekend. It’s called the J-Pop Summit, and there’s a serious focus on ramen and sake. So go. Walk around and immerse yourself. Learn things. Have fun. Just make sure you mostly only eat ramen and drink sake.

Of Course You’re Going to an Outdoor Screening of The Goonies

The New Parkway and Drake’s Dealership are cohosting a gratis outdoor screening of The Goonies on Saturday night. You can bring a picnic or grab food and beer from Drake’s. Hey, remember that one time just now when we told you about an outdoor screening of The Goonies? That was great.

Jul 23, 8:30-11pm, no cover, 2325 Broadway (parking lot next to Drake’s Dealership), Oakland, 510-658-7900

Sunday
It’s a Poke Festival. Neat.
RAW EMOTIONS

It’s a Poke Festival. Neat.

We trust you’re okay with the whole poke-as-never-ending-trend thing. So we trust you’re also okay with the fact that PokeCon is happening this weekend. It’s a poke-specific festival where you eat many bowls, listen to live music and drink beer. Thus concludes this productive trust exercise.
