A Very Humphrey Bogart Weekend in the Keys

This week, Playa Largo is playing host to a Bogart film festival. There’ll be over 15 screenings. Casablanca. The Maltese Falcon. Key Largo, naturally. So you’ll head down, catch a few movies, sip some Bogart-inspired gin drinks and wrap things up with a waterfront brunch. This all seems like a really good idea.

Full Moon Feasting. And Sure, Some Fire Dancers.
OVER THE MOON

Full Moon Feasting. And Sure, Some Fire Dancers.

Anyone can throw a full moon party. But a four-course full moon feast on an oceanfront terrace with charred octopus, hanger steak, salted-caramel apple snicker cake and a cadre of fire dancers? Well, that’s just the kind of ingenuity our full moons need more of.

You Always Deserve a New Brunch

Spring Chicken in the Gables is doing brunch now. What that means for you: weekend mornings filled with fried chicken and waffles, chicken biscuits, BLTs with fried eggs and ice-cold beers. Mornings. Ha.

Nice Weather for a Backyard Cookout

It appears that Campton Yard and Repour are joining forces this Saturday. And with their powers combined, they’ll produce a mighty backyard cookout with the likes of Babe Froman sausages, caja-china-cooked meats, tequila cocktails and flip cup. Sorry about the flip cup.

Mondays Are for Clambakes Now

That refreshing temperature dip from 90 to 89 can only mean one thing: it’s patio clambake season. Spasso is aware. That’s why, on Mondays, they’re opening up their terrace so you can partake in a special menu of clam chowder, crab cakes, steamed mussels and glasses of sgroppino. Season’s greetings, everyone.

Mondays, 6-10pm, Spasso, 3540 Main Hwy, 305-441-0219

Jackie Gutierrez-Jones finds unhyphenated names quaint. She believes that croquetas and gin cocktails are suitable precursors to running and hoisting heavy weights over one’s head.
