Basel. We’re in the thick of it.

An after-work exhibit turns into dinner. Dinner turns into a gallery party. A gallery party has cocktails. Cocktails lead to more cocktails. More cocktails end with...

... grilled cheese at 2am.

Welcome to Gramps, your new home for night-concluding bocce, live music and buttery grilled cheese sandwiches, opening tonight/just in the nick of time in Wynwood.

Despite what the name implies, you’re not coming here to play shuffleboard and eat dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon. Instead, you’ll use this rustic, old-Floridian roadhouse for all things late-night in nature. Like sitting on a porch and listening to old 45s while you have that one last beer for the evening. Or two last beers for the evening.

So if tonight looks like it has the makings of a long one, consider winding it down in a corner booth here. Throw a few quarters in the record-playing jukebox. Order a rum Old Fashioned from the bar. Grab a grilled cheese stuffed with shaved tavern ham from the Ms. Cheezious truck parked out front (well, isn’t that convenient).

And hey, starting next week: bocce. Outside. They’ll be setting up court for some high-stakes pickup games.

Lawn sports can be so cutthroat.
