Shhh.

Hear that?

That’s the sound of you reading an email.

Don’t worry, though, tonight will have more exciting sounds.

At the Hi Hat, a new Highland Park joint for catching bands and burgers from the team behind Covell, Hermosillo, L&E Oyster Bar and other places you enjoy. It opened last night, and this is what it looks like.

Lots of talented individuals will play in this cavernous, red-bricked former pool hall. Once 5 strikes, you can rally friends for draft IPAs or one of 20 good canned beers. Then proceed to one of the two gratis pool tables and engage in some spirited conversation that doesn’t touch on politics, religion or Kanye West beefs.

Hang out awhile and catch one of the night’s emerging bands, comedians, hip-hop collaboratives, jazz sets or whatevers. There’s a nice corner nook by the stage just begging to be taken over.

Your eyes and ears will be tuned in. You’ll have a beer in one hand. You’ll require something for the other. You’ll resolve that situation at the counter up front, where you’ll find cheeseburgers and crispy potato tacos from L&E Oyster Bar’s chef.

You’ll congratulate yourself for being really good at finding things.
