Bieber tears.

Moonmen.

Whatever the hell Miley Cyrus was wearing.

You won’t find any of that here.

Nod in recognition of Formerly Yes, a great place to pick up some quite useful classics of minimalist design, now open in Downtown.

This was a Webby-nominated online store. Now it’s an actual store across from the Ace. Full of Scandinavian and Japanese things to make your life and work easier. Check it out, then consider investing in:

—Handblown, textured Finnish highball glasses.

—A Picasso book called Women, Bullfights, Old Masters. Now you can’t use the name.

—A self-watering planter. For plants.

—An Aether speaker that learns your tastes. Keeping your Sunday morning Gregorian chants apart from Thursday’s “Rocket Man.”

—Blackwing pencils. Steinbeck’s favorite.

—A double-coated nylon all-weather bag from Baggu and Pilgrim Surf. Bring it, El Niño.

—A published homage to Helvetica.

—A concrete vase on a glass base. It’s like Levitated Mass. But smaller.

—A smooth silver paperweight that looks like the period at the end of a sentence.

Like that. And that.
