Butter-and-salt donuts.

And they say there’s no such thing as a perfect sentence.

Even the “and” works.

Anyway, you’ll be seeing a lot of those at Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee, a little place you’ve probably heard of that’s about to put things like Benton’s ham and whiskey in your morning pastries. It opens Tuesday in Santa Monica, and here’s the slideshow.

Oh, the hours you’ll while away at this attractive, checkered-floored café of diminutive proportions. Working on your Mr. Belvedere reboot. Drinking some draft nitro Stumptown cold brew or Vietnamese iced coffee. Enjoying the breeze on that nice patio up front.

Meanwhile, these guys will be frying new donut batches every hour, hand-crushing fruit, infusing glazes and doing other things you’d rather have them be doing than not.

You’ll find a menu of six daily donuts. Maybe one of them will be topped with bacon and Vermont maple syrup. Or filled with Benton’s ham and poached egg. Or named Butter-and-Salt, thus involving everything you believe in.

They’ll also have six monthly flavors. In the past, those included bourbon-infused pecan pie, dark-rum-assisted bananas Foster and fig with goat cheese.

So, yes, the future looks pretty bright.
