Big day, Boston.

The list of places where you can play Pac-Man, watch sumo wrestling and consume drinks with tiny surfboards in them is going all the way from zero to...

One.

This one: Hojoko, a rock-and-roll izakaya where fun and games and sushi and sake are serious business, opening tomorrow in the Verb Hotel.

This comes courtesy of the couple behind O Ya. But it’s nothing like that stately den of omakase. Let us count the ways...

The inside looks like something between a well-loved Kyoto punk club and a Japanese teenager’s bedroom circa 1985 (yes, in the best ways possible). There’s graffiti on the walls, Japanese movie posters and old Godzilla merchandise galore. (So... lot going on in this slideshow.)

Pick up a pair of Sapporos and make for the free-play Pac-Man machine between two retro salon chairs. Or take a seat at the sushi bar in full view of a projector screen showing sumo matches or Studio Ghibli flicks.

Or proceed directly to their patio seating by the Verb’s pool. That’s where you get familiar with a sake bomb that uses a tiny, plastic surfboard to balance its shot.

You could just order a nice bombless sake, too.
