A Big Bus That You Can Cycle In

Pumping techno.

Sweat-flecked strangers.

Furious pedaling.

All parts of your morning commute now.

Hop aboard the BikeBus, a fully functioning cycle studio that just happens to be a commuter bus as well, now taking reservations online. (Oh, look, a slideshow.)

Yep. It seems somebody got their hands on a former Logan Airport shuttle bus and felt the urge to rip out the insides and add a gym floor and nine stationary Schwinn bikes. Fortunately, they acted on it.

To start, they’ll be offering one-way trips from the West Newton commuter rail stop to South Station at 7:45 every weekday morning. But more rides are coming soon, including an afternoon one.

It’ll take 45 minutes, you’ll be pedaling away the whole time, and you’ll have all the amenities of an indoor cycling place—an instructor, an air-purification system, LEDs, towels and a sound system playing anything from classic rock to techno to Motown. Yes, they take requests.

If you don’t have any plans to commute from Newton in the future: know that they do private events and will gladly pick you and your friends up and take you to a bar while everyone works out and listens to Prince.

It doesn’t have to be Prince.
