South Station Gets Its Very Own Tequila Bar

Something South Station has no shortage of: trains.

Something South Station has a desperate shortage of: draft margaritas.

Here to remedy that situation: Tavitas, a pint-size dispenser of tequila and tacos smack in the middle of South Station. It’s opening next Monday, this is its slideshow, and this is its menu.

You’ve got a train to catch. And a margarita-shaped hole in your heart. Things are looking bleak. And then you see it: an indoor patio with a corrugated-steel roof and a glowing glass case full of tequila bottles. You’re saved.

Walk inside and find a dark cantina with a four-sided bar, pinup girl wallpaper and a souped-up bike with flame decals hanging on the wall. Just the place where you want to ride out that train delay with an El Burro (mezcal, ginger beer, lime) or one of two 20-ounce margaritas on tap. Hopefully it’s a long delay.

You could also do the burrito thing and get one with al pastor pork belly. Or elect for a Walking Taco made with your choice of fillings and served with salsa and queso in a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos.

And that’s pretty much the only acceptable way to end on a Cool Ranch Doritos note.
