You’re So Spain

It was the Spanish conquistador Hernando de Soto who once famously said, “One pitcher of gin sangria, please.”

Big shoes to fill, but we trust you’re up to it.

Enter: Rezagarse, a new Spanish tapas joint with a name that’s fun to say and things that are fun to eat and drink, now open in Decatur. (Here’s a slideshow and a menu.)

This place isn’t too far from the square. And it’s where you’ll soon be surrounded by trees and bushes and little plates of shareable meats and cheeses. You’re familiar with tapas.

Head through the doors next to the patio with a casual date. It’s pretty raw and industrial inside. Exposed brick and all that. The building used to be a factory that produced ice, so it’ll somehow all make sense.

There’s a charcuterie bar, a bar bar, some tall leather booths and plenty of white tablecloths. Doesn’t matter where you end up, just start sharing things like olive tapenade and Prince Edward Island mussels with manchego.

And as things get a little more fall-y, find your way to that covered patio with a pitcher of their house sangria, made with brandy and gin.

There may also be some fruit involved.
