We interrupt your regularly scheduled New York-establishments-opening-in-LA news to bring you a glorious display of fried chicken sandwiches.

It's name is South City Fried Chicken and it's open now in Downtown's Corporation Food Hall from Joshua Kopel and chef Sammy Monsour of Preux & Proper. Slideshow time.

Both of those guys are native Southerners who want to paint you a picture of the South in the medium known as fried chicken sandwiches. So each sandwich is not only named for a different city, but bear flavors meant to evoke each municipality's flavors.

You'll step up to this busy counter next time you're in Downtown and in need of lunch or dinner. You'll order something like the Chapel Hill, with crispy Tar Heel country ham and housemade pimento cheese. Or the New Orleans, with creole remoulade, fried egg and collard green kimchi. Along with an Abita root beer or another vintage soda that's sadly also not actual beer.

Of course, should a situation arise in which you need Memphis rib rub-sprinkled fries covered in brown ale cheese sauce and chicken bacon, well...

Something can be worked out.
