Just like you tour a winery or brewery, you can now spend an afternoon viewing and smelling hundreds of cannabis plants in a Denver area dispensary. Seed & Smith is a vertically integrated herb operation that grows its own. The small batch weed-producer is currently offering free 20-30 minute tours to visitors 21 and older who want a peek into the budding industry.
During the tour, which goes behind the scenes at Seed & Smith’s facility (a former plant that manufactured forklifts), guests will enter state-of-the-art grow rooms to see ganja plants go from their infancy to big, flowering giants to the finished product ready for sale. Along the way, they’ll learn how cannabis is grown and processed, with lessons about harvesting, trimming and curing techniques.
Guests will not get samples (collective “awwwww”), but will get an up close look at numerous plants, learning about the genetic differences that endow strains with their various physical differences, flavors and aromas. This includes something called a SMELFIE station, where visitors can smell fresh cannabis terpenes behind different strains’ notable essences.
One aspect of the tour will also open a window into the extraction process behind creating cannabis oils for edibles, concentrates and other extracts. As well as sections encouraging positive advocacy for the plant itself.
And naturally, the whole shebang winds up in the gift shop. But instead of crappy water bottles and mouse ears, one can buy sample packs of herb for watching Broad City, or whatever, following the tour’s conclusion.
And next in store for Seed & Smith is a planned tasting room for guests to be able to linger in, puff and reason with one another, forging positive new alliances and insight into life.
