Two for the Road

1. Here’s the Horn. 2. Also, Here’s Butchers & Barbers.

1. Finally, a gizzard sauce specialist. It’s The Horn (pictured left), opening tomorrow in West Hollywood.

Just your standard, rhino-motifed, up-till-2am steakhouse with dark woods, red brick, fake-ostrich-hide booths and a ship-metal bar. The type with pork belly chili, wood-grilled boar chops, gator nuggets and roasted bird with gizzard sauce. Nothing crazy. See the menu here and the slideshow here. The sidewalk patio’s got a decent view...

Of people who don’t have pork belly chili.

2. And hey, here’s Butchers & Barbers (pictured right), opening next Tuesday.

Like most Houston brothers productions (No Vacancy is behind it, Dirty Laundry is more or less below it), this is an old-timey spot that looks like it’s always been here. Only this time, the lightbulbs are on meat hooks, ancient straight razors are framed art, and butcher scales hang over the bar. (Give the slideshow a look.)

Oh, and this time there’s... dinner. You’re bringing dates here to share house-butchered, dry-aged côte du boeuf for two, lamb sausage, and habanero mussels with white beer from a Corner Door vet.

You’ll just take a little off the top.
