The Weekender
The Weekend Starts Here
The weekend is always a sound investment.

THURSDAY SALE-ING
Pick up the other kind of workwear—along with the shirts and ties you'll need to look the
part—at 25 percent off, in-store and online. Better get them now though, before the suit market
rebounds.
411: Through Sept 28, 346 Madison Ave (at 44th), 212-682-8800, get the coupon here; the online code is "friend67" |

FRIDAY SMALL PLATES
The West Side beef obsessives finally give us something to nibble while we're barside. The small plates
include Fried Mac & Cheese, Wagyu Tartar and the overstuffed Fried Oysters with
Smoked Coleslaw. Now that we think about it, maybe "small" is the wrong word...
411: 85 10th Ave (at 15th St), 212-400-6699 |
|
FRIDAY SPINOFF
We're big fans of Philippe
North, as we call it, but the chance to get the same menu at son-of-Philippe downtown saves us a cab
ride or two. We especially like the idea of ordering our Peking Duck through a high-tech touchscreen
kiosk...or if we're feeling old-fashioned, a phone.
411: Opening Sept 26, 469 6th Ave (at 11th St), 212-929-8949 |
|
SATURDAY SHELLFISH
The Financial District's favorite watering hole drowns its sorrows in mollusk and grog. There'll be upwards
of 20,000 oysters there, so you should be fine as long as Kobayashi doesn't show up.
411: Noon to 4am, Sept 27, 58 Stone St (at Pearl), 212-482-0400 |
|
SATURDAY STORE-AGE
The workwear experts open up a second location with the same charcoal suits and argyle cardigans they have
in Soho. Here's hoping they bring the biweekly cookouts with them too.
411: Opening Sept 27, 50 9th Ave (at 14th St) |
|
MONDAY FIXE
The UES institution responds to the financial crisis with a $48 prix fixe available only in the cafe,
where you're free to go jacketless and even (gasp!) wear jeans. Just don't let Sirio catch you
in sandals.
411: 151 E. 58th St (at Lexington), 212-644-0202 |
|
WEDNESDAY DJ
45 Potluck at Sycamore
This brand-new Ditmas Park spot brings together two crucial things: flowers and booze. To sweeten the pot
even more, they're soliciting singles from vinyl-minded patrons in exchange for free drinks. Apparently
just having a flower shop and a lounge wasn't quite quirky enough.
411: 7-10pm, every other Wednesday starting Oct 1, 1118 Cortelyou Rd (at E. 11th St), Brooklyn, 347-240-5850 |
