The Weekender
The Weekend Starts Here
The weekend stubbornly continues to wear white pants.
|
THURSDAY PERKS
Skincare from ZIRH and a charity blowout at MSG with a Sam Ronson-DJ'd pre-party should make for a busy
weekend. Use your perks wisely...
411: UD Perks |
|
THURSDAY TRUST
The devout bi-borough boutique's new LES outfit brings you Steven Alan-style shirts and a wall of
carefully selected gear, including coats from Hyden Yoo and west-coast denim from Kanvis. If you need extra
enticement, they're kicking off with a champagne-fueled opening party to welcome the neighborhood...and
anyone else who might be passing by.
411: 6-9pm, Sept 4, 153 Ludlow (between Stanton and Rivington), 212-228-1055 |
|
FRIDAY AUCTIONEERING
The venerable auction house is giving priceless historical artifacts a rest and turning their attention to
furniture and wall fodder, which means this is your chance to outfit your place with an old-world oil
painting, mahogany screen or brass-lined French cabinet. Or, if you get paddle-happy, all three.
411: Through Sept 5, Christie's New York, 20 Rockefeller Center (at 49th St), to register for bidding, call 212-636-2437 or register online |
|
SATURDAY BUELLER... BUELLER...
Apparently the Deitch Art Parade loves John Hughes
as much as the rest of us. One of the parade's floats will be a re-creation of the "Danke
Schoen" scene from Ferris Bueller. Just dress up as Cameron, brush up on your Wayne Newton, and get
ready for a streetside singalong. But, you know, for art.
411: Arrive before 4pm, Sept 6, W. Broadway at W. Houston St |
|
SATURDAY SALE-ING
The well-cultured scenesters are clearing house with 60 percent off pieces from
Rag & Bone, Raf Simons and Adam Kimmel, along with the usual in-house goodies. Sadly, the
music selections are still full price...but the Kinks don't come cheap.
411: Through Sept 14, 181 Orchard St (between Houston and Stanton), 212-378-8005 |
|
MONDAY SWINE
This beer-and-bacon pairing boasts Six Points Ale and five kinds of bacon (including one from the fine
purveyor you know as Oscar Mayer), all curated by the city's dedicated minister of meat, Josh
Ozersky, who will expound on proper marbling, texture and subtleties of the '98 Berkshire vintage.
411: Tastings start at 6:30pm and 8:30pm, Sept 8, Jimmy's No. 43, 43 E. 7th St (between 2nd and 3rd Ave), reserve at 212-982-3006 or here |
