A Sexy New Ski Chalet in France

Some venues are built purely to bring out the raw, sweaty stuff of competition—Lake Placid, Soldier Field and Atlantic City come to mind.

But then, there are those other venues built to foster competition, and then shower its competitors in spoils.

Ideally, spoils equals a foot massage.

Introducing Le Kaila, a new French ski chalet and spa erected in large part to host the next all-star game of trick skiing, taking reservations now for December 22 in Méribel.

Here, in the middle of the Three Valleys, your overseas après needs and slope infrastructure for the 2013 World Freestyle Cup overlap. Meaning you’ll find bigger, faster gondolas, new bump slopes and inter-slope tunnels (no need to bring exact francs for the toll or anything).

Inside the 38-room ski-in chalet, things fall in line with classic French tradition—butlers running around, snappy concierges behind desks and suites with deep-brown animal furs draped over most of the furniture.

So relax on that, and be sure to use a geyser bath at the spa... or at least the steam room in your bathroom before hitting up the new Folie Douce, an outpost of the techno DJ-fueled outdoor bar nearby.

Freestyle skiing begets freestyle dancing.
