Things to do for August 14, 2014

The Weekender

Brandy, Ribeye and the Beatles

The weekend is still debating the song of the summer.

Thursday
When Hog & Rocks Is Not Hog & Rocks
ROCKS OFF

When Hog & Rocks Is Not Hog & Rocks

If you’re finishing your drinks at Hog & Rocks tonight, it’ll still be a ham and oyster bar. At 10pm, though, it’ll suddenly turn into a late-night Korean spot, with bibimbap, kimchi stew and fish cakes on the menu until midnight. Wow. Powerful drink you had there.

Aug 14, 21 and 28, 10pm-midnight, Hog & Rocks, 3431 19th St (near Mission), 415-550-8627

Friday
Get a Bottle of Something Good Here
WE’LL BE ROYALS

Get a Bottle of Something Good Here

The guy behind the Royal Cuckoo bar has a good sense of everything you might need this weekend: Red Margaritas and vinyl. Pretty much covers it. Oh, also a bottle of amaro, wine, ice cream and Danish chocolates at his new market a few blocks away. Might need those things, too.

Saturday
The Beatles Like You’ve Never Seen ’Em
THE MANIA EVENT

The Beatles Like You’ve Never Seen ’Em

Maybe you’ve heard of the Beatles. They’re the guys who are the subjects of 50 pretty incredible never-before-seen photos at the SF Art Exchange’s new show. You know, the Beatles.

Sunday
Tailgating with Michael Mina
ON THEIR TAIL

Tailgating with Michael Mina

Michael Mina is not just a chef—he’s a 22-year Niners season ticket holder. And his new place at Levi’s Stadium, Bourbon Steak & Pub, isn’t just a place to get an 18-ounce ribeye and a beer—on game day, it’s a members-only tailgate party spot. Yeah. Members-only tailgating exists now.

Tuesday
And Lo, There Was Brandyfest
’COLE FRONT

And Lo, There Was Brandyfest

Beerfest: been done. Brandyfest: now that’s really something. Bar Agricole is turning four, and they’re doing it with two all-you-can-eat oyster/sausage/other-snack parties, with plenty of small-batch brandy tastings throughout. No offense to Beerfests.
