Get Framed
Rare Watches and Sunglasses on Valencia

Ah, the ’80s.
A golden era for the Walkman. Feathered hair. “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” Joe Montana. Wang
Chung. The first woman appointed to the Supreme Court. Shoulder pads. Slap bracelets.
Also: Tom Cruise as Maverick.
On the subject of cool guys in aviators...
Meet
Time Frame, a throwback shop full of vintage shades, watches and other shiny accessories, now
open on Valencia.
Old-school handsomeness. That’s what you’ve got here. It’s
a spartan little storefront, curated by the guy behind Rare Eyewear. (His name’s
Curtis. Go ahead, introduce yourself.)
For your perusal: glass cases full of iconic sunglasses from the ’60s, ’70s and especially ’80s—all
sourced from throughout Europe and beyond. We’re talking Persols made by Ratti (in a now-defunct Italian
factory), Gianni Versace ones, Playboys and old folding aviators from Porsche Design by Carrera. In other
words, exactly what you need right now to après correctly in Tahoe. (You’d hate to après
incorrectly.)
And the time. You’ll need to tell the time. Actually, that’s why you have a cell phone, but you might
also want to pick up a little wrist candy while you’re here. Old, oversized Seikos. Minimalist Timex
models. The kind of thing a rock star wears but maybe never actually sets.
Which reminds us: Lenny Kravitz apparently just bought a pair of Boeings from Curtis.
The sunglasses, not the planes.
