Dirty Dozen
Art Gallery Meets Private Club in SOMA
There are parties.
Then there are parties you actually remember. For a while. Involving lots of booze and loft space and the
artwork of someone who has been described as "completely insane."
12 Gallagher Lane is quite possibly
the party space
of the year—a new two-story gallery space dedicated to the work of Andy Warhol cohort Hunt Slonem,
a New York artist who is rumored to be "equal parts Liberace, Lou Reed, Keith Haring and Scarlett O'Hara" (a
seamless menagerie, if we've ever heard one).
Slonem has thrown together his latest works in a renovated former Catholic school gymnasium (in our opinion,
the most propitious roots for a great party). The result is a warehouse-feeling space filled with pops of
color, vintage furniture and his artwork—ranging from his signature bird paintings (he keeps over 100
live birds himself) to repetitive bunny silhouettes to portraits of Abe Lincoln next to Queen
Elizabeth.
The space is helmed by well-connected Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton alums who can help you plan every aspect
of your event, whether you're hosting an intimate dinner or a DJ-driven dance party with libations flowing
from an authentic marble Roman bathtub. The two of which, by the way, are not mutually exclusive.
We hear the tub multitasks.
