Consider the ramifications of The Double Standard, an Oakland watering hole that seems to have three gigantic redwoods rising from its rather sizable backyard patio, now open in Oakland. Just look at this slideshow.
It would probably be weird to not talk about what’s inside. What’s inside is a perfectly nice establishment, with some pendant lights and a long bar. Sure. Great. If it’s not patio weather (imagine that), totally works as a good place to order a pair of Old Fashioneds made with just about anything you like—rye, bourbon, gin, brandy or agave, maybe. See, that list got kind of unexpected, didn’t it.
But clearly you need to keep going. You need to step out back. To the deck. To the yard with the picnic tables. To the bocce court—well, whenever you’re ready. Take your time.
Can’t rush bocce.
