Want to hear about a new bar with 242 beers?

Thought so...

Behold the sudsy majesty of The Beer Hall, a place that’s just really accurately named, now open at 1 Polk.

In a few hours, you’re going to find yourself in the mood for a beer. And that mood is really going to work out for you. Because what you have here is a come-as-you-please spot with thousands of beer bottle caps on the walls, a few cushy banquettes and a rather sizable L-shaped bar with an obscene amount of beer behind it.

And despite whatever images of cavernous, stein-waving biergarten-ness the name conjures up, it’s really quite small. (Hall is the husband-and-wife owners’ last name, so that explains that.)

Needless to say, you should probably arrive thirsty. You’ve got roughly 222 bottles to work with. Mostly California stuff. Some European stuff. Tiger Tripel Norwegian ale. Deus sour ale. Twenty beers on tap, too.

Soon, you’ll be able to have them put together a flight for you. And do the cheese plate and charcuterie thing. And talk about how great it is that you can take home as much beer as you want from this place.

Or just do it.
