A Copenhagen Beer Shrine Does Mason Street

Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall sounds like a lot at first.

But really, it’s not all that impressive.

Forty-two kegs of beer in the fridge...

Yeah, that’s more like it.

And that’s exactly what you’ll find at Mikkeller Bar SF, the first stateside outpost of the original Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen that’s destined to be your new 42-taps-strong happy hour safe house, soft-opening Friday.

Here’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to walk into a 1907 Victorian brick building this Friday. You’re going to say, “Sweet mother of Poseidon.” (We’ll also accept “Holy sh*t.”) And then you’re going to drink beer.

Start walking across the room. You’ll pass blond-wood tables and exposed brick walls. Keep passing them and stop at the massive bar in the center of everything. Sit. Stay. Good person.

The entire staff is cicerone-certified, which means that if you ask them questions about that lambic or barrel-aged chardonnay-mango ale you’re drinking, they’re going to have answers. They’re also going to serve you pork chops with smoked spaetzle and beer-poached brats if you ask nicely.

Oh, and there’s a cellar. They call it the Sour Room. You can have private parties down there.

Looks like you’re going to the Sour Room.
