A Bocce-Filled Tavern in the Marina

Football: donezo.

March Madness: not until March.

Spring training: not until spring.

Bocce season: ...

It’s on, motherf**kers.

Just head over to Stock in Trade, a new tavern opening Tuesday in the Marina.

For 50 years, this place was a Mexican joint called La Barca. Everything from there is gone now, except for the terra-cotta-tiled floor. (You just don’t part ways with good terra-cotta.)

And now, well... In the dictionary, under “big group spot,” you’ll find: nothing. Because that’s not in the dictionary. But if it were, you’d see a picture of this place. There’s a massive U-shaped bar near the entrance, a dozen or so flat-screens and a generously sized dining room.

More importantly, there’s a big bocce court in said dining room. That’s where you’ll stand gloriously—“Bacon Burger” Poutine in one hand, bocce ball in the other—and dominate your competition. (Other worthy foods clamoring for your attention include pork chops and a crab Louie jar. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.)

We should also mention the private party space in the back. It has its own bar and a separate entrance, it doubles as a back room when it’s not reserved, and it has two bull heads mounted to the wall.

Those things always make you thirsty.
