Oysters and Beer by the Bay

And now, a few things we know about the ocean.

1) It’s massive.
2) It’s terrifying.
3) It’s delicious.

Let’s focus on the delicious part...

Say hello to Mission Rock Resort, a mammoth, two-story waterfront hangout from the MoMo’s crew specializing in oysters, beer and cocktails, opening Friday in Mission Bay.

You might remember the locale as Kelly’s Mission Rock. But you probably won’t recognize it. Gone are the DJs and overall club vibe. Instead, you’ll find marine-blue wainscoting, massive windows overlooking the water and two sturdy outdoor decks overlooking naval transport ships and Crane Cove.

If you’re in the neighborhood for a business breakfast, get the eggs Benedict and coffee at a cozy table by the gas fireplace. But more likely, you’ll come in on a sunny Sunday for a smorgasbord of seafood—in shooter, cocktail and ceviche form.

At some point, you’ll likely end up at the bar, which is crafted out of reclaimed bleacher wood from UC Berkeley’s Memorial Stadium. (As the best bars are.) From here, you’ll order sailor-inspired cocktails like a Shipwreck Punch or the Bloody Right, a Bloody Mary variant made with house-infused chipotle bacon vodka.

Which we’re pretty sure can ward off scurvy.
