Starmont’s Patio and Tasting Room Are Nice

Ah, the casual day trip date.

The topless automobile. The thoughtful playlist. The scenic views.

The outdoor wine-sipping at Starmont Winery and Vineyards. It’s an old grape pioneer’s estate that’s now a bright and airy tasting-room-with-a-patio situation, and it’s open this very moment on the edge of Highway 29. (Here’s your slideshow.)

You’ll make this your first stop on your way into Napa. You’ll take a look around and realize that it’s not a typical tasting room. It’s a place that was specifically engineered to put you in a daylong stranglehold of wine-related delights. Just... you’ll want to stay awhile, is all.

Anyway, once you’re somewhere inside the industrial-looking farmhouse, you’ll want to make your way out of it. That’s correct: walk through the glass doors, pass the wine-filled barrels and head back outside to the patio. It’s where you and that date will overlook fields of grapes and sip on many things by the glass or bottle.

From there, maybe watch the sunset. Mosey around the fountain. Nap in an Adirondack chair.

And eventually, you’ll be able to go on a hiking tour through the vineyard blocks with wine in hand.

Which sounds like an excellent form of exercise.
