Sample Sail
Skipper an America’s Cup Racing Yacht

Before you know it, 2013 will be here.

Well, not really.

But you can’t be too prepared.

Especially when it comes to nautical, America’s Cup–related pursuits...

Introducing AC Sailing SF, a new sailing operation offering crewing instruction and full-on yacht-chartering aboard a retired America’s Cup vessel, set to welcome you aboard now.

Taking the USA 76 (which raced in the 2003 America’s Cup) out for a loop is the kind of day-filler that makes your Scent of a Woman Ferrari day trip look like child’s play. It’s the fastest vessel on the bay, so you’ll want to really get her going: sail under the Golden Gate, around Alcatraz, toward the Bay Bridge and back on your three-hour cruise.

And not to worry: you don’t need any prior experience with sails, jibs or anchors. In fact, you’ll be under the tutelage of a professional crew of four that has experience sailing for the Oracle Racing team and winning the 2010 America’s Cup (you could call them seasoned sailors).

After you take the helm and serve as skipper, help hoist the 3,000-square-foot sails, tack and jibe and do all the things a skilled crewmember does, you’ll finish off the day with a few swigs of rum from your flask and some orange slices.

Hey, you wouldn’t want to get scurvy.
