Getting Away Like Clint Eastwood in Carmel

You and Clint Eastwood have a lot in common.

The Oscars. The iconic way you say “Feeling lucky, punk?” And, of course, your undying love of Carmel, California.

Which brings us to Carmel Valley Ranch, a country club-style hideout with vineyards, pools and fire pits in Carmel, reopening today.

You of course know this place from Dirty Harry’s stint as mayor in the late ’80s. Clint’s moved on since then (apparently he’s been working in the movies), but you can celebrate his legacy the only way you know how: with an epic round of golf.

You and your date will begin with a two-hour drive southward to the forests of the Santa Lucia Mountains. There, you’ll start with 18 holes, or play doubles tennis on either a hard court or on clay, Nadal-style.

Then, to ease your aching muscles, you’ll relax in the infinity pool, or head to the massive new spa for a massage in one of the three couples suites. Duly rested, you’ll finish your day with a margarita at the bar before heading back to your room, where a fireplace and a deck are waiting.

Clint would have wanted it this way.
