Welcome h2hotel and Spoonbar, your newest full-service wine country escape equipped with a city-caliber cocktail bar and creekside pool, opening tomorrow in the heart of downtown Healdsburg.

Think of h2 as the modern, edgier little brother (that sneaks smokes out back) to the boutique Hotel Healdsburg—complete with loaner two-wheelers from Public Bikes, a solar-heated creekside pool and room service French-press coffee in the morning (with no questions asked).

The place is situated within easy access to nearly 100 wineries in the heart of Dry Creek, Russian River and Alexander valleys, and you’ll know you’ve arrived when you see the building with rusted-looking balconies and a grassy living roof (because non-living roofs are so predictable).

While every room has its own deck or patio, we’d suggest you retire to Room 214 in the back, with your own secluded creek-view deck. Once you’ve settled in, pop open a few bottles and allow the free-flowing zinfandel to commence. Then, as any wine country veteran knows: all nights end with serious cocktails. In this case, head to Spoonbar and opt for a pitcher of the Dark n’ Stormy from an ex-Cyrus barman, or his original mezcal/grapefruit vodka Smoky Paloma.

Which brings us back to Room 214.
