True, the Giants' hopes for a postseason wild card were dashed yesterday in LA.
Normally that means you're boycotting anything within a mile radius of AT&T until the season picks back
up.
But we've just come across an inviting little hangout where you can get a quick bite and a brew just about
any time of day, all year round, that might have you rethinking your boycott.
Introducing Ironside, a new all-day café/eatery/bar serving the restaurant-starved block of
Second and Townsend, opening today.
Like a good neighborhood restaurant, Ironside's the type of easygoing spot you'll stumble into before work
for a cup of joe and a maple-bacon breakfast bun or run through for a quick Pressed Cubano
at lunchtime. Or, if you have more time, stop over and unwind with a Wild Boar Sausage Pizza and
beer on the mezzanine at the top of the steel and timber-block staircase.
The owners are behind District a few blocks down, who are branching out from the wine bar business to bring
more anytime options to the area. You'll find two wines on tap, but the focus is really on beer. To start,
there'll be four on tap—including Speakeasy Hunters Point Porter and Shock Top Belgian-Style White
Beer—by the glass or pitcher. Even better, they'll shower you with pizza and pitcher-doused happy
hours beginning as early as next week.
Consider it pre-spring training.
