Coda Red
A New Jazz Supper Club in the Mission

Weekends are precious. But then again, so are weeknights.

So if you're going to join a weeknight club, it should at least have live jazz. And Jameson-drizzled, coffee-crusted pork loin…

Welcome Coda—a new supper club combining the worlds of live jazz (everything from funk to soul to Village Vanguard traditional), Cal-Mediterranean fare and classic cocktails—debuting in the Mission on Saturday.

Consider Coda, brought to you by a Bruno's vet and tucked into the exposed-brick and lofty wood-beam ceiling warehouse that formerly housed Levende Lounge, the SF meal-and-music equivalent of New Orleans's Blue Nile—making it your spot to grab a bite and relive Jazz Fest on a nightly basis (and soon, Gospel Brunch on Sundays).

Make a night of it by setting up reservations. Luckily each table has a clear view of the stage, so there's no bad two-top in the house. When you arrive, settle at the bar over cocktails or grab a glass from the wine-on-tap system (no, you can't order a pint), pouring select wines like a rare, unfiltered chard from Truchard and a Saintsbury pinot noir. At your table, start with a charcuterie plate from Fatted Calf, then opt for Lobster Ravioli in a Brandy Garlic Cream Sauce or a Spice Rubbed Ribeye, and, in true Big Easy fashion, finish with Pecan Pie Tarts With Jack Daniel's Carmel Sauce.

Or, skip dinner and show up around 9pm, when the lights go down and the live music starts.

And things start to look a little more interesting.
