Some associations are so obvious they don't bear repeating—like you and a martini at 6 o'clock (or
your second at 6:01).
So when we say "burrito," you probably think: the Mission.
But since you've never been one to stick to routines (except for martinis, naturally), let us introduce
Urbun Burger, your newest Valencia Street eatery bringing virtually every iteration of the beloved
charbroiled patty and bun to the tortilla-centric Mission, opening Tuesday.
Since they gutted the former lo mein–slinging Yum Yum House, you'll be impressed to find a bright
interior slightly reminiscent of a '50s diner, complete with white leather-topped stools, elevated
countertops and bright walls, including a graffiti-like art installation of a giant burger, shake and fries
landing on Valencia Street (very subtle).
With specialties like a chipotle-spiked
Mission Heat as well as build-your-own options like ground
turkey and beer-battered onion rings, you'll probably struggle with settling on just one. When in doubt, we
say go for the
Breakfast Burger topped with cheese, bacon, fries and a fried egg (because egg on
top is the new cherry). Then in true diner form, order a milkshake made with Mitchell's Ice Cream and share
straws with your lady.
And in a few months, they're planning on delivering their burger goodness to one lucky neighborhood
bar.
Burgers and martinis, anyone?
