So here’s Black Sands Brewery. What it’s eventually going to be is right there in the name. Thing is, though, it’s also going to be many other things. Many other wonderful things. It’s soft-open now, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what you need to know...

It’s only espresso and breakfast for now.
Come early and grab seats at a marble table up front under the oversize banana-plant. It’s all pretty bright and airy and minimalistic. Your morning repast will be sort of surf-inspired: think housemade malasadas, chorizo tortas, matcha drinks.

But you might want to peek around the corner.
That’s where their homebrew store’s doling out a bunch of small-batch bottles by North Coast Brewing, AleSmith, Oskar Blues and the like. Alternatively, you could acquire some hops and malt and things to make your own.

And soon, lunch and dinner are happening.
It’ll be a pan-Asian-inspired situation: beef tartare, Korean-style popcorn fried chicken, New Mexico–style queso... that kind of thing. Whiskey, too.

Which will come at about the same time as the housemade oolong tea beer and Tahitian-vanilla-bean coffee stout.
And that’s when you’ll confirm that it’s a brewery.
