Lardo Pies and Negronis in Napa
Wine-tasting fatigue...
It takes a commendable level of dedication to reach that point.
But it happens.
So instead of reverting to doing tequila shots at Pancha’s, allow us to suggest crossing Washington Street
for a more polished respite.
Introducing
Redd Wood, a rustic, all-day outpost slinging pizzas, pastas and cocktails, opening
Thursday in Yountville.
Think of this as
a low-key
counterpart to the posh Redd a few blocks south. So instead of reservations and white tablecloths, you
get a hangout for a quick bite to wind down after a day of tasting, or for a self-imposed time-out before
the next round of wineries.
On a nice day, you’ll want to snag a table in the courtyard, summon some charcuterie and a Negroni or two
and imagine you’re in a villa somewhere in Tuscany.
Then, once the sun sets, lead your date through the dining room to one of the leather/brass-tacked stools at
the marble bar. You’ll be nicely situated under about 100 marquee lights with wood-oven views of the
exposed kitchen as well as a glimpse into the charcuterie room.
Forego a menu and point to things like the lardo pizza coming out of the oven.
There’s also wine if you get a second wind.
