One Vine Day
50-Plus Cheeses and Salumi in North Beach

As far as crafting dates goes, you’ve got your bases covered.

It’s a fine mix of upscale spots, a few choice dives and a couple wild cards depending on where the night takes you.

So when she waxes nostalgic about her afternoon picnics in the sunflower fields of Provence, we’ve got your back...

Welcome to Little Vine—a European-influenced market that’s somehow packing more than 50 cheeses, charcuterie, wine and basically any other picnicking provisions you need into a glorified closet-sized space—opening Tuesday in North Beach.

If it sounds like they squeezed the Ferry Building into a teeny tiny space equipped with floor-to-ceiling shelves, you’re on the right track. So when you’re looking to pick up some brie, fresh baguettes and handmade salumi for an alfresco bite, you’ll come here.

You’ll be in good hands as the husband-wife owners took their knowledge from years at the Cowgirl Creamery, California Wine Merchant and running their own mobile cocktail service and channeled it here. So feel free to lean on them for picks like the Tumalo Farms Pondhopper that’s a gouda variant made with beer. You’ll also be able to get premade sandwiches, morning pastries and coffee to round things out.

And if you’re serious about the picnicking thing, they’ll loan you one of nearly a dozen vintage picnic baskets.

Next up: hiring a Sherpa.
