New Deli
The Mission's New East Coast Deli

UD - Clare’s DeliThe East Coast...

Land of humid summers, dime-size states and solid pastrami sandwiches on rye...

While we can't bring you the first two, we have ideas for that sandwich.

Introducing Clare's Deli, your new all-day, every-day mainstay for East Coast-style subs and sandwiches, opening today in the Mission.

Positioned nicely one door down from the 500 Club at 17th and Guerrero, this is your welcome pit stop during a day (or night) of marathon dive bar-related beers and $5 martinis.

Stop in for as close to an authentic kraut-laden hot pastrami or saucy meatball grinder as you'll find on this side of the Mississippi. You could stay in-house and slide into the booth opposite the line, safely positioned steps from the hanging cleavers and rolling pins scattered throughout the sliver of a deli.

Or you can bring your sandwiches into the 500 Club and pair them with a pint of Trumer—since Clare is the longtime manager there, she's worked out an arrangement with the bar. But if you're reluctant to consume bread-bound monstrosities in public, let us recommend that you order the triple-decker 500 Club Sandwich and take it a few blocks to Dolores Park.

And in a few weeks, our friends at TCB Couriers will be on hand to take orders and deliver to you in any bar, park, home or sidewalk within the Mission.

Yes, we said sidewalk.
