It's the most cherished Japanese Christmas tradition of all: when the kids aren't looking, parents put a
bunch of 20-ounce Washu beef sirloin steaks in the fridge. They let them age for 28 days, at which point a
costumed man travels from table to table delivering them. In gratitude, the kids give him cash.

Chinese Food, Movies and Booze
Let's say there's something standing between you and celebrating Christmas—cancelled flights, Judaism,
whatever. There's room at the 92nd Street Y Tribeca, with its all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet and screenings
of Spaceballs and Blazing Saddles. And, of course, the nondenominational pleasures of the
bar.

Rogan 50% Off Sale
The dark denim gurus at Rogan are taking half off everything in their Bowery showroom. We want to be clear
that although you pay half price, you get the whole item. For example, a whole pair of modern or classic
jeans, or a whole V-neck cardigan. Sometimes we have to talk our way through these things.
The opportunity to drink for a good cause doesn't come up often. Okay, yes it does, but brunch spots Double
Crown and Public will hook you up with unlimited free mimosas if you donate an unwrapped children's book or
toy. It reminds us of that part in Goodnight Moon where the bunny enjoys a few Bloody Marys,
drunk-dials Paddington Bear and regrets it the next day.
Just in time, the Lower East Side's dimly lit purveyor of tailored handsomeness is taking 40 percent off its
fall stock, with quality labels like Patrik Ervell, Opening Ceremony, Krane and C. Chauchat handmade
neckties. We say "just in time" because you've got that thing coming up and you should…look good when
you're at that thing.

Momofuku Ships Cookies
In an unprecedented display of baker's hubris, Momofuku Milk Bar launches its shipping service. They'll ship
cookies, pies and cakes, including their signature "compost cookies" and "crack pie," all over the country
via FedEx. Suddenly, their stated ambition of putting a carrot cake on the moon by 2020 doesn't seem so
ridiculous.
