Things to do for April 24, 2014

The Weekender

Billy Reid, Italian Beef and Blind Barber

The weekend is so many people.

Thursday
Blind Barber’s in the Burg Now
LEADING THE BLIND

Blind Barber’s in the Burg Now

Blind Barber. The name alone evokes images of perfect ear-lowerings and the refreshing pints that follow. You know... because it’s a barbershop with a bar attached. Anyway, they’ve also got a whole operation in Williamsburg now. The only place where beer and scissors together is a fantastic idea.

Now open, Blind Barber, 524 Lorimer St (at Ainslie), Brooklyn, 718-599-2435

Saturday
Real-Deal Italian Beef at Emmett’s
HERE’S THE BEEF

Real-Deal Italian Beef at Emmett’s

Emmett’s: they finally introduced this city to the splendors of Chicago-style deep dish. Next up: Italian beef—the jardiniere-topped king of all sandwiches—and Chicago-style hot dogs. It’s how they’re launching lunch this Saturday. Word to the wise: regional pride will not serve you well in this situation.

Available starting Apr 26, 11:30am, Emmett’s, 50 Macdougal St (near King), 917-639-3571

Sunday
Warhol’s Most Wanted in Queens
THE LONG ’HOL

Warhol’s Most Wanted in Queens

In 1964, the World’s Fair (hosted by Queens) commissioned art from Andy Warhol. He painted giant murals of America’s 13 most wanted criminals. They rejected them. (Great move, 1964 World’s Fair.) Now the murals are back at the Queens Museum for you to art-date it up. So please, go easy on Andy’s work.

Monday
Billy Reid’s Making You a Suit
GOOD REID

Billy Reid’s Making You a Suit

The good lads at Billy Reid don’t ask for much. Only for an opportunity to have you pick out some of their finest fabrics and make you a made-to-measure suit. They’re doing it for three days only, and it’d be a real kind gesture if you gave them that chance.

Apr 28-30, Made-to-Measure Event at Billy Reid, 54 Bond St (near Bowery), by appointment only, reserve at 212-598-9355

What Else Is New
Mile End Bagels, Short Rib Pizza
AND NOW...

Mile End Bagels, Short Rib Pizza

If you’re in a bagel rut: The Mile End folks just launched Montreal-style Black Seed bagels on the LES.
If your pizza’s too light: A Gramercy Tavern vet just launched Heartwood in the old Donatella space in Chelsea. Your move: a short-rib-topped pie called When Peter Luger Goes Out for Pizza.
