There are roof decks and then there are roof decks.

On one hand you have the miniscule, tar-covered, makeshift varieties.

Looming at the complete opposite end of the spectrum is a gigantic new looker we'd like to introduce you to called Press Lounge, 8,500 square feet of outdoor gorgeousness at the Ink48 Hotel in Hell's Kitchen—it's massive, it has views for miles, and it opens this Friday to kick off rooftop season in a monumental way.

Tucked on the far reaches of West 48th Street, Press is the kind of rooftop that you'll want to sink into after work on a sunny day, order a few caipirinhas and salumi plates and waste away hours as the hazy sunset gives way to the bright lights of Midtown.

There's no bottle service, no pumping house music and no door policy—just a bunch of couches, settees, plants, 360-degree views and a long wading pool that's meant to be decoration only (we consider your feet decoration).

And while you may be tempted to leap the fence and go for a more substantial dip in the small swimming pool that's tucked away on the Hudson-facing side of the roof, know that it will soon be replaced with a garden to serve the restaurant, and a table for farm dinners later this summer.
