Champagne Gardening at the High Line Hotel

We found the most pleasant outdoor drinking spot in New York.

Yep, that did it.

It’s called Champagne Charlie’s, it’s a front yard/garden that’s also a champagne bar, and it’s open now at the High Line Hotel in Chelsea. (See our slideshow here.)

And now, a few key things you’ll find at this place:

Shade. You can sit under trees. You can sit under sunbrellas. You can... not do those and get a sunburn.

Oysters.

Champagne. Obviously.

Tomato-chorizo relish. That’s going on your burger. (See the menu here.)

Jealous passersby. Expect a few of those.

The bar. There’s only one. And they’re pretty strict about it: it’s got champagne bottles, champagne glasses, oysters, beer and nothing else.

The Holy Spirit. The whole place used to be a seminary.

Not to quibble with the Almighty, but... let’s call it an improvement.
