Cocktailing and Foosballing, Underground

None 6 Photos Sweetwater Social
There’s an injustice we’d like to draw your attention to.

It’s the lack of Dolph Lundgren–themed cocktails in this city.

There’s not even a He-Man Margarita out there.

It’s deplorable.

And it ends today...

In the depths of Sweetwater Social, a subterranean house of mirth and mixed alcohol, now open in Greenwich Village.

Sometime in the past few months, you may have asked yourself, “Hey, what the hell happened to the Vault at Pfaff’s?” Well, it closed. Sadness. But now: happiness. Because now it’s this subtly subway-themed cocktail dispensary. A dark, comfy, wood-and-iron place for you and your comrades to quaff once the day is done.

You’ll arrive through an awning just north of Bleecker Kitchen & Co. and see a foosball table and tabletop shuffleboard in a small nook across from the entrance. Then you’ll shout “Dibs” in the most dignified way possible.

While your friend/work friend puts a hand on that table to claim it, you’ll order up one Big Trouble in Little China (a toasted-sesame-infused bourbon drink) and one Ivan Drago (vodka, ginger syrup).

Head back to the table. He’ll say, “Thanks.” “Oh, these are both for me. Go ahead, I’ll hold the table,” you’ll reply.

Classic grandpa joke.
