And now you’re picturing Paulaner Bräuhaus & Restaurant NYC, probably the German-est beer hall and brewery in the US of A. It’s opening Friday night, so cancel whatever you’ve got going on then.
This place is legit: the original brewery operation in Germany has been run by Bavarian monks for 375 years, and this location has six special beers to call its own (three permanent and three seasonal). You’re going to eat things you can’t pronounce (bauernwurst or kaesespaetzle, anyone?) and drink things you can’t refuse (like full-liter glasses of their Salvator Double Bock).
Seating-wise, you’ve got choices. To the right, there’s a big brick-walled room full of efficiently lined-up tables. That’s the lunch/dinner option. The group option. The clanking-brews-with-strangers option.
To the left, beyond all that incredibly beautiful copper beer-making equipment, there’s the bar. Just a long, wooden paradise of red leather stools and gleaming taps.
Oh, and we should mention they’ve got a handful of wines on the menu, too.
