A Shrine to Perfect Beer in Greenpoint

No time to waste today.

You’ve got possibly illegal beer to drink.

Behold Tørst, a spectacular holy land of rare beers from a Danish couple, now open in Greenpoint.

You’re coming to this cross between a Danish mid-century-modern furniture gallery and a ski chalet for one thing: beer. Find someone who loves it. Someone whose ears and eyes perk up at the very word. And show them to their new paradise.

Rare brews are the specialty. The owners run Evil Twin Brewing, so you can expect their Even More Jesus porter to be in the daily-changing tap rotation.

And, oh God, the tap. It’s behind a white marble bar and organized lightest to darkest, with each of the 21 handles a foot apart. It’s run by a custom system they call the flux capacitor. More of an altar than a tap, really.

Anyway, the beers. Here’s a taste of what’s bottled:

—Beachwood Six. Unattainable outside California.

—The Lost Abbey Cable Car Ale. A beer as insanely complex as it is rare.

—The End of History. A bottle covered by a taxidermied squirrel. It rings in at a gentleman’s 55% ABV.

If you’ve never heard of any of those... yeah.

They’ll have a beer-paired tasting menu in the back starting in May. The chef’s been at Noma (big deal in Denmark), the Fat Duck (big deal in the UK) and Momofuku.

Never heard of that one.
